Greetings, friends and readers. It's been quite some time since I've been on my personal blog. But the Fall Writing Frenzy contest is one I cannot resist. This year the last photo #14 spoke to me.
In September Bob, and I took a lovely trip to Brevard, North Carolina, right in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains and unbeknownst to us, a waterfall mecca.! We came for a bluegrass festival, so did not have enough time to explore the waterfalls, but will be back.
This year I've begun teaching myself watercolor and spent about a week on a waterfall sketch which I'm sharing after my entry In the meantime, enjoy fall and all the fall enteries!
Thanks so much to Lydia Lukidis and Kaitlyn Sanchez for this opportunity to be creative! A big thanks to all the donors for their generosity too!
Wonder-fall Mountain Enchantment
let's go chasing waterfalls
you and me
up blazing mountains
in the blue ridge
smoke clings, mists rise,
paths weave ‘round waterfalls
through shadow, sunlight,
rushing water,
leaf-changing magic
leaves cackle and
crackle underfoot
nature’s unexpected wizardry
go on . . . s -t- r- e- t- c -h
out your hand
cold mountain spray
in whirls and swirls
powerful water

sugar maple, black gum, beech
fall in lakes that wait
glistening in pools
tiny rainbow leaves
bewitched by alchemy in
sunny days and cool nights
enchantment awaits
sprinkled in waterfall wonders,
